Garden Orb Spider Symbolism

I love finding symbolism and synchronicities in nature 🌱

Here’s an Orb Spider who’s made her home in my garden, freaky looking maybe but isn’t she magnificent! By putting aside the common fear driven response to spiders and thinking about what they may symbolise, we can reflect on our own lives:

The Orb Spider creates it’s web in a circular formation, first by anchoring certain points – the silk is known to be dropped and left to land randomly – trusting the process of the unknown. If these get destroyed, they adjust the position of the anchor point and create a new one.

How do these qualities translate into your life? We are the creators of our own webs too, how do we respond when we lose parts of our webs? Do we rebuild in the same spot, beginning a repetitive pattern? Do we learn from the damage and make minor adjustments at a time to or do we make a complete change? What are the qualities of the web? 🕸

Silk, circular, interconnected, woven, delicate looking but strong enough to withstand the elements. I’m getting a strong feminine energy.

This kind of metaphorical symbolism is often a crucial part of generating insight in Art Therapy. Fascinating isn’t it? People have connected with art, nature and it’s messages for thousands and thousands of years, it’s such an important tool for growth and healing.

Thank you Orb Spider for your reflective guidance! And thank you all for reading 🕷
