Today’s #artathomeinspo is here for you π
A Bi-lateral Scribble Dance! ππΊπ¨
This is great to do with kids and just as awesome for adults!
All you need is 2 different coloured textas πβ (or other mark making tools e.g. pencils, paint brush, crayons) and a piece of paper.
I’ve used A3 size here – the bigger the better if possible for more movement but A4 or even a piece of newspaper is fine too!
It’s a grounding exercise and depending on what music you choose, it can be energising, reflective, relaxing, fun and relieving! Are you ready?
π First, you might like to light a candle, diffuser or incense while acknowledging your intention for this process π―
π Choose a different colour texta for each hand (yes you’ll be using both hands to draw at the same time!)
π Choose a song/music! What do you feel you need? Do you feel like slow gentle movements or do you feel like jumping around? Lots of different possibilities and no wrong or right way so just listen to your intuition here πΆ
π You can either sit or stand. Press play and shut your eyes if comfortable to do so π
π Let the music move through your body and out of your hands onto the page! Move and make continuous lines all over your page to the music, allowing them to cross over to other parts of the page if you feel like it. Move and draw for the full duration of the song if you can, being mindful of the pace and rhythm of the music, while trying not to worry about how it looks π
π When the song/music finishes, open your eyes and be amazed! Acknowledge how you feel now and take a moment to reflect on what you created π
You can take this a few steps further by using it to colour in or journal about.
Enjoy!
